totally unlocked android g1 phoneYou want to get your hands on a totally unlocked G1, both SIM-wise and hardware-wise?  To get one you would have to register as a developer and shell out $399 to buy one.  This is definitely a special edition only available to help developers build their Android applications.  The T-Mobile G1 has been out since October 2008.  Just like other highly anticipated phones, tons of news of security issues around unlocking etc appear after .  Now there is an official channel to get a totally unlocked G1 - yes, free of T-Mobile - all yours.

This piece of news is also a godsend to those still waiting for the G1 to sell in their countries.  This has certainly opened the G1 doors to a lot of people.

This link will point you to the registration as a developer at the Android Market.  Registration only costs $25.  That is a very small amount considering now what that status will let you buy. The Android Dev Phone 1 is fully compatible with Android 1.0.  It comes with the newly unlocked bootloader so you can flash custom Android builds!!!  Come on now, even if you are just an "amateur" developer, I am sure you will find this a very happy day.
